I wouldn't really use this set up for a saltwater tank unless you were going to modify it somehow.

It's doable with the stock filter stuff just like you would take out of the box...it's just going to be a pain.

I'm not really sure what you could put in place of the stock filter pad to filter the tank, so I would just leave it and watch the tank closely to make sure your water quality doesn't turn bad.

The bio wheel should be fine to leave though.
