» Welcome to CORA
The Central Ohio Reef Aquarists is a growing group of reef aquaria hobbyists who meet on a monthly basis. We are a committed group of all ages, and experience levels. We like to trade, talk about our tanks, share ideas, and help each other out. Our monthly meetings are generally topic oriented and range from relaxed summer meetings just "talking reef" to major events such as frag swaps and nationally recognized speakers and workshops. If you like to “talk reef” and enjoy hanging out with like minded souls, come and check out a meeting and see what we are all about!

CORA is proud to make an annual donation to The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium's Discovery Reef SECORE coral propagation project.

CORA also supports the Bellevue Ohio High School Marine Sciences group, supplying forum space for their students to document marine related projects, as well as other support.

Hobbyist Early Bird Setup 4' space with Electric.
(If you have a vendor's license, you are a VENDOR, not a hobbyist)

Send paypal to Be sure to include your username and real name and that it is hobbyist payment for the swap.

Day of Swap Space- no electric-FREE
Available first come first serve, once the doors open for those wishing to sell/trade but do not need electricity. (no electric available for these spaces, and NO SETUPS/TANKS. You will be required to have corals in small containers or bags to utilize these spots). You will be limited to the table only.

Note: Swappers/vendors, per 4 foot space, you will be limited to 250 watts of light(NO Metal Halides), a pump/filter and 1 heater(may have a second heater for vendors and early bird setup, just to warm the water initially but it must be removed before the event start time) - NO EXCEPTIONS - if you exceed the lighting limit you will be asked to turn the light off and you will forfeit any registration fee).

Early Bird swapper setups will also be limited to 15 gallons of water volume. Water volume will be checked using the L x W x H of your setup, and limit WILL BE ENFORCED. We have had a few pretty unsafe setups recently that require us to monitor water volume more closely.

TO ALL SWAPPERS: Do not put items out in the isles in front of your tables. The isles were made wider to allow for more comfortable foot travel for those browsing the selection of live and hard goods. Putting used tanks, etc. in the isles, in front of your table space, is a safety issue, as well as a hindrance to foot traffic.

We have had 350-400+ attendees for the last several years and hope that you will help us match or exceed that number again this year.

Start fragging now. We look forward to seeing you in September!

August Meeting
LED Lighting

Saturday August 23rd
6:00 p.m.

New Albany Park Condos Party House
7200 Steel Dust Dr.
New Albany OH 43954

This is another meeting CORA members have been asking for.

Have you had questions about LED lighting? Which one is preferred? Should I stick with blue and whites, or add other colored LEDs to the mix? How is PAR and spread compared to other type lighting? These and other questions will be covered.

Join us as CORA member Todd Yothers, MisterY,gives a presentation into LEDs and the industry. Todd works for a chemical company that supports the LED industry. He has access to LED trade magazines at work that he reads to keep up on the technology and increase his knowledge of the industry. But mostly he is just a science geek.
